Zero Based Budget And I Didnt Even Know

As the world of PF is all new to me, I am not familiar with the terminology , especially as the banking systems around the world are so different to one another. But as we are all putting in our plan,s goals and budgets for 2011, I have heard the expression Zero Based Budget used by a large number of bloggers.
Always on the lookout for new ideas and systems I googled it and guess what I found, I think you may have guessed by now, I am a Zero Based Budgeter. If I was to think about it logically then I would probably have been able to work it out for myself, but I am a google junkie.
I love that all of my wages have been neatly put into compartments, but I am now worrying that I may have been to tight with my budget as I have left absolutely no room for error. Still if it doesent work I can always change it.

Be aware that this is the first time I have ever added a link to my blog, so please let me know if it works or not.

Getting excited about Sharon at http://midlifemommusings.blogspot.com no spend challenge for February, I,m joining anyone else interested.

  2. Tee hee - I never knew there was any other way to budget besides zero-based. But let's just pretend we're so smart we're ahead of the pack.
I too have joined that challenge for February and yes your link worked - yay for you - after my extravagent birthday spending for Michael I need a NO spend month or two!

  3. There are plenty of names for plenty of ways to budget

I knew there was a zero-based budget, and I used to do that when I was in debt.

Now I just set $1000 - $1500 a month and pay for my essentials and leave the rest into a pot to take out of if need be for whatever I want.

  4. zero-based budgeting is a good way to tell your money where to go, instead of just disappearing and you having no clue. I have yet to get this one right. Sometimes my money has a life of its own. ;)

Glad to have you on board Maureen, it's going to be fun! :)!

  5. I'm a zero based budgeter..it's simply allocating every penny {or cent] to something. For me it's dangerous to leave an amount leftover...I'd spend it!!

I'm in on the challenge :)

  6. I am sorta a 0 based budgeter... I always have about $80 or so for spending but 1/3 of that often goes back into my debt. Depending on the rules I might join in on the challenge. My BF is not all that into budgeting and is not aware of my blog and so providing it doesn't infringe on "our time" I will definitely take part. We will have to see when the rules come up!
