Murphy Got Me Again
Bill payments, food shopping, debts, fine and computer payments come out today. These are fortnightly payments except for food which gets paid weekly. I mentioned in a previous post that I was going to have a shortfall of around $60 to meet these payments. It was right from the word going to be a difficult week.... And then Murphy visited.....Last month while extremely bored I paid $1.99 to buy an online game, this came out of my paypal account and I had the necessary funds to cover it.
Today I opened up my online banking to check my balance and to pay my bills and instead of having $450 in there I only had $433, let me tell you that when every penny counts this was quite a blow. Without realising it I had joined bigfish's monthly online club and this was the monthly payment to paypal ( which they had to take from my bank account ) of $7.71 plus a $10 overdrawn fee from my bank, I immediately contacted them to cancel this monthly amount and to let them know how annoyed I was to have my accounts hijacked by them. So within minutes I received an email from them canceling my payment and promising to return my $7.71 back into my paypal account. I will now have to speak to my bank and see if they will reverse the fees, fingers crossed.
Anyway here is a breakdown of my figures.
Gas Bill $50 ( this is the first payment of this Restaurant debt )
Driving Fine $50 ( this is my second to last payment )
ANZ C/C payment $25 ( this is an ongoing payment I will be taking this one to my grave )
Advertising $148.00 ( my last Restaurant advertisment payment)
Computer Payment $135.00 ( A monthly payment )
TOTAL $ 408.00
This leaves me the grand total of $25.00 to cover my food and petrol for the week, is it looking to you as if the CC is going to take another hit Grrrrrrr
Still no sign of my new Grandson yet, I am staying with my Son and his wife for a couple of days as they have all got heavy colds and they need a little TLC. So I am nesting, you would think this birth and labour were going to be done by me. LOL
Hang in there - look at it this way - the bad week is over :) Exciting time - hope the birth goes well.
ReplyDeleteThanks my Son and his wife already have the cutest 3 year old girl with big brown eyes and blonde curls, so we can't wait to meet her litle brother.....
ReplyDeleteThe bad week is just beginning, how to survive with that amount of money is going to be an uphill slog, Can't wait until The Foxx's payday on Tuesday.....
Oh, isn't life grand, but soon it will be Grandma and then this minor set back won't matter!
ReplyDeleteOne of the greatest joys in my life is being someones Granny, so yes you are right it really does'nt matter
Deletehow annoying is that with the payment, dont get me started on bank charges.hope you get a refund
ReplyDeletex
Obviously the initial mistake was mine, but it just goes to show how easily you can get sucked in....
DeleteI hope the bank returns those fees. If this is your first time overdrafting in a while (or for the year), they ma be lenient. Sometimes you can also go after that company that charged you for the overdraft. Best of luck.
ReplyDeleteI think my bank may be lenient with me as I am not in the habit of overdrawing on this account, but you never can tell so I have my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteHang in there - it can be a challenge to be creative with what food is in the pantry, etc. but perhaps you can make it through the week without adding to the credit card.
ReplyDeleteI am going to cut everything to the bare minimum, Mrs Frugal eat your heart out. LOL
DeleteLike you, I monitor every dollar coming out of my bank accounts, and just before payday, I am likely to have only a dollar or two in them. That's when a small charge, whether accidental or not, can throw me over the edge.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the trick would be to keep my emergency fund in this account, but I am frightened of having to much access to this money. Especially now as I browse the babywear departments....
ReplyDeleteDamn that Murphy!! I've had that happen to me too online where I accidentally signed up for something - they can be SO misleading! At least you're getting your $7.71 back. Things are really squeaky around here too, I've raided my coin jar to partially pay for the mortgage discharge for my line of credit, wasn't expecting THAT one plus I renewed my passport ($87) and bought the license sticker for my car ($75), it all adds up. I have around $100 til the end of the month and we're going AWAY next weekend for my birthday! The B & B is already paid for, breakfast will be provided but we'll need to buy lunch and dinner for the weekend. I guess I won't be doing any shopping! What a rough month!! Exciting news about the baby though - I bet that really helps keep your mind off the bills!
ReplyDeleteI have just stuck my registration sticker onto my car today, cost to me $340 for 6 months this includes insurance still in comparison to $75 it seems so expensive.
ReplyDeleteYou will manage on your $100 I have complete confidence in you.
And an early Happy birthday just in case I miss the big day.
P.S. no baby yet
